Hostel Rules

 

1.Admission and Seat allotment:

Admission to College Hostel is made strictly in order of merit. Seats are allotted to the boarders by the Superintendent.

2. Management and Discipline :

(a) Study Hours: Unless and otherwise decided by the Superintendent the following study hours shall be observed on all days during the session.
From July to December: 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. & 7.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. 
From January to May 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. & 6.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.
No boarder shall be absent from his room or interrupt others in any way during study hours.

(b) Attendance: Attendance will be recorded by the General Prefect daily during study hours, and the same will be checked by the Superintendent

Care of Hostel Properties :

Every boarder is responsible for the hostel properties he/she uses. All damages caused by the boarders will be seriously dealt with. Boarders will be charged individually or collectively to compensate such loss.

Electricity :

Boarders are to arrange their own electric bulbs. They are not allowed to use any electrical appliance other than electric bulbs.

Visitors and Guests:

Boarders who bring their guests are directly responsible for the conduct of the guests. Guests are allowed to stay with their wards only on the permission of the hostel Superintendent in exceptional circumstances.

Hostel Mess :

Every boarder has to have meals in common mess. Meals are arranged both in the morning and at night. Stoppage of meals and arrangement of guest meals shall have to be recorded by the interested boarder in the information register kept with the Mess Manager. No meal can be stopped or no guest meal can be arranged unless informed by the boarder by 6.30 in the morning and 4.30 in the afternoon.

Not more than six guest meals can be arranged for by a boarder during a month.

The mess in the college hostel will be controlled by the hostel authorities with the assistance of the mess committee.

Mess Dues:

The boarders must clear their mess dues within 15th of each month, failing which their meals will be stopped. A fine of Re.1.00 per day will be realized from the defaulting boarder till he/she clears up his/her dues.

Tuition fees will not be accepted by the College office unless a boarder clears the hostel dues in full and produces receipt to that effect.

Monthly mess charges are liable to modification during the session depending on the change in market price.

All collections will be made in the hostel office on 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th and on the last date of each month. Collection of mess dues will be made by a part time clerk in the hostel office on fixed dates.

Mess Refund:

Boarders are entitled to get refund of their meal charges onlywhen 
(i) they are absent for more than four continuous meals.
(ii) they inform the Mess Manager in writing stating the definite period of absence. Refund at the rate of Rs.1.50ps. will be paid to the boarders. Collection from the absent meals will be spent for improvement of the mess. This can never be spent for purposes other than the mess development/management. The session from June to May is divided into two terms. 1st term - June to December. 2nd term - January to May.

A student getting admitted in the hostel in any term will have to pay establishment charge from the beginning of the term. Boarders of final year classes will have to pay the hostel dues in full upto the end of session before they fill up their forms for C.H.S.E. or University Examinations.

Withdrawal:

Withdrawal from the hostel requires the sanctions of the Principal. Application to that effect shall have to be made to the Principal through the Hostel Superintendent. A sum of Rs.l0.00 has to be deposited in the hostel office towards withdrawal fee.

The Superintendent will be responsible for the maintenance of discipline in the hostel. He is, however, to punish a boarder for breach of discipline. All cases of gross misconduct must be reported to the Principal.

13.The following shall be considered as breach of discipline.

  1. Absent from hostel without leave
  2. Continued negligence of study.
  3. .
  4. Want of cleanliness and tidiness in the hostel.
  5. Spitting in the rooms and on verandahs.
  6. Singing or playing any musical instrument.
  7. Making noise in any form.
  8. Writing on or disfiguring the walls, doors or windows of the building.
  9. Holding of any meeting in the hostel without permission of the Superintendent.
  10. Calling bad names and showing any kind of derogatory behaviour towards the hostel and mess employees.
  11. Misconduct of any other description.

14. The College General Hostel provides accommodation to 60 male students. There is a Women's Hostel (UGC & THW) which provides accommodation to 60 women students and a THW hostel to 50 students belonging to SC/ST. Applications for admission to hostel are received in the College Office in the beginning of the session. Selection will be made on the basis of merit and good conduct.

(Caution money is refundable if the boarder leaves the hostel permanently. Such refund will be made only at the time of taking C.L.C.)
